The countdown to the European Futsal Championship has begun

The countdown has started: exactly one year from now, the European Futsal Championship will kick off in the Netherlands. It promises to be a go-to event, which will be played in two spectacular stadiums: the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and Martini Plaza in Groningen.

It will be the biggest European Futsal Championship final tournament ever. As of 19 January 2022, as many as sixteen countries will compete for the European title. After 31 matches, the final will be played on 6 February. The Netherlands have automatically qualified as hosts of UEFA Futsal EURO 2022.

It is not the first time that the Netherlands will be hosting a final tournament. In 1989, the men in orange made it to the FIFA Futsal World Cup final in their own country and suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Brazil. The last time the Netherlands qualified for a final tournament was in 2014, at the European Championship held in Antwerp.
