Azerion Women's Eredivisie

The Azerion Women’s Eredivisie (in Dutch Azerion Vrouwen Eredvisie), or Eredivisie Vrouwen, is the highest women’s competition in Dutch football. The league consists of twelve clubs: ADO Den Haag, Ajax, AZ, Excelsior, Feyenoord, Fortuna Sittard, sc Heerenveen, PEC Zwolle, PSV Eindhoven, FC Twente, FC Utrecht and Telstar.

From 2007 (6 clubs) to 2012, the Women's Eredivisie competed for the national championship. With the introduction of the Women's BeNe League in 2012, the league was merged with the Belgian league and transformed into the BeNe League.

Since 2015, there has again been a Women's Eredivisie with only Dutch soccer clubs. In the 2015/16 season, the Women's Eredivisie consisted of only seven teams. After the European title of the Dutch Women's Team, women's soccer in the Netherlands received a boost. The Women's Eredivisie now consists of twelve teams.

Women’s football is booming in the Netherlands.

AZ lifted the first Women's Eredivisie title in 2008. However, FC Twente won the most national titles. The formation from Enschede was crowned Dutch champion eight times. AZ and Ajax are next with both three titles.
